One Dollar $1.00 Australian Silver KOOKABURRA Coin
UNCIRCULATED
The Silver Kookaburra coin has been minted since 1990 by the Perth mint. Its reverse design features the kookaburra, a bird native to Australia. Limited production of these coins make them valuable to collectors. The 2015 design will be a reissue of the original design from 1990; they will be easy to distinguish from one another because the new version is inscribed with the dates 1990-2015. There are an expected 500,000 coins in this minting, although in earlier years those numbers were limited to only 300,000. As with other coins from the Perth Mint, these coins exceed their listed value. Although they can be used as legal currency, it is not recommended to do so. The silver content is worth more than the face value of the coin.
